hair stiff and the smell of salt in the shells
a wave, pounding sand, on a beach
And the salt later makes your t-shirt feel unnatural
Lord of the flies, you think
Old man and the sea.
Hair stiff and the smell of salt in shells,
The hem of her dress darker where
the water reached; white foam lingering on it
like saliva, or soap.
